Christianity's Sacred Feminine

“In the last hundred and fifty years, the Virgin has been appearing all over the world, warning humanity of the danger of living without God and without love and trying to open all being to the truths of the Heart. She has been seen as the mystical Mother of all new beings, preparing the ground for the birth of the Christ in all of us, through wonder, prayer, unconditional love, and unstinting service.”
Andrew Harvey: Teachings of the Christian Mystics
Before we begin our glorious dive into the Christian Mystics I want to remind us that the conventional story of Christianity as an exclusively patriarchal religion is not true. It is a facade propagated and perpetuated by the early Church, which unfortunately tried to bury and keep secret the mystical truths that make Christianity accessible. When we look at Christ’s authentic teachings, and the wisdom of the early Christian holy Fathers and holy Mothers, we find the deeply tender, healing, compassionate wisdom that are all attributes of the sacred feminine. We find the sensitivity and courage that may help us embrace our fragility and suffering. In the Christian mystical tradition we discover not only the fatherhood of God, but the motherhood of God as well. Both the sacred masculine and feminine will be honored in the voices of the Christian Mystics.
